programming for linux going back to school and bricked galaxy nexus adb

if i wanted to turn my back on winblows proprietary software (used to teach Aplus netplus) etc mcp and that crap worked various tech support jobs now i'm 38 and going back to school. What is the first programming language to learn if looking to specialize in open source related work???? I'm more hardware....C vs java or python vs perl?

I'm a total newbie barely learning to set up gufw firewall lol.........

my android phone is totally bricked it boots to recovery mode and bootloader but hangs on the google symbol if i try to start it..adb and fastboot complex on linux but i managed to get the serial number and reboot it a few times via console soupkit wishy washy..can i take it apart physically the soundcard is emulated to /media/something/sdcard and fs mismatched so i deleted it all but backups gone too...update.sys refers to a symbolic location .....is there a script to just push something in it so i can start over......?? I'll pay at this point i've had no luck for days or the files are corrupt or i get a light blue fastboot error stating I:using /data/media for /sdcard it was a directory of 0's i mean 9 levels deep of 0 directorys....is there a script or easier way? tried toolkit odin for windows.....want to succeed at it on linux however....mint 14
